IoT, Automation, Electric Vehicles, and Location Technology are Among APAC Logistics Industry’s Key Investment Priorities

20 Oct 2021 | BY JASON JAMESON, SVP AND GENERAL MANAGER, APAC, HERE TECHNOLOGIES

In many ways, this capacity for ongoing change is defined by movement. While social distancing and working from home means that many will feel their lives have slowed down, the infrastructure required to deliver new ways of living and working means that goods and services need to move faster than ever.

We need vaccines to be delivered across the world, some with complex cold storage requirements. We need food to be delivered to our doorstep, sometimes more than once a day. We are ordering more goods via international e-commerce stores than ever before. And we need all of this in the midst of supply chain challenges and shocks that have emerged as a result of the pandemic.

One of the keys to success in this challenging climate is to find the right balance between being tactical as part of a short-term response to the crisis and being strategic to enable long-term growth.

With this The State of Movement study, we wanted to understand how companies, customers and partners across Asia Pacific are thinking about the logistics and supply chain challenges of both today and tomorrow.

To do this, we have partnered with Frost & Sullivan to conduct a study of 152 companies – both multinational corporations and SMEs across Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and Japan. The core objective was to understand the opportunities and challenges in fleet management, asset tracking, and shipment monitoring from a logistics and transportation players' perspective.

At HERE Technologies, we put customer centricity at the heart of everything we do and value insights from our customers and partners to be able to validate and further develop our product portfolio. With its focus on helping businesses and governments navigate change and identify disruptive technologies and megatrends, Frost & Sullivan is the ideal partner for us to deliver the best possible insights for the market and to our customers.

We believe that the outcomes of this study show why there has never been a better time to digitalize and harness the power of location. With location, we can help streamline operations and reduce the costs of running a business, increase revenue channels, and gain efficiency within supply chain and fleet management. This approach also delivers more sustainable and greener ways of doing business. We are living in fast-moving times. But, as we hope this report shows, there is optimism across Asia Pacific about the future and businesses’ ability to operate and maneuver through the challenges which will continue to emerge. The winners will always be those that embrace change the most effectively. With the right technology in place, you can give yourself the best possible chance.
