FUTURE OF MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLES

SYNOPSIS

Industries & businesses in APAC have continued to navigate operational, workforce & supply chain challenges in 2020-21, with capacity building, resilience and capability development being areas of focus.  While there has been an increased interest in employing Industry 4.0 to mitigate these challenges, many businesses still perceive the adoption of Industry 4.0 as challenging – whether in terms of return-of-investment, cost, technological complexity, integration with existing operations, or accessibility to their workforce.

In line with the Future of Manufacturing Summit 2021 theme of “Bringing Industry 4.0 Within Reach” and industry-wide efforts to encourage greater adoption of Industry 4.0, the Future of Manufacturing Industry Roundtables will be conducted live via Zoom on 23 November to discuss issues on two areas of concern.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The Industry Roundtables are exclusive by-invitation-only events and are open to senior industry leaders and selected representatives from the wider Industry 4.0 ecosystem. This discussion and dialogue platform is a highlight of Industrial Transformation ASIA-PACIFIC and is designed to drive cross-sector discussions among participants from around the APAC region.  Expected attendees will comprise C-suite executives and business owners, heads of manufacturing industries and businesses across APAC, representatives from government agencies, research and institutes of higher learning.

Roundtable #1

Navigating Priorities Across the Management Suite - Framing Industry 4.0 Value Proposition to Change Mindsets & Gain Buy-In

This roundtable will focus on how leaders of Industry 4.0 initiatives could drive conversations within their organisation to gain buy-in and mindset-change across the management team by addressing the priorities of different organisational functions such as HR, Finance, Compliance and Operations.

Roundtable proceedings and participant interactions will be facilitated by moderators. Points of discussion may address questions such as:

  • Which office or function do Industry 4.0 initiatives fall under in different organisations and why?
  • What are the implications, and what is the ideal responsibility or hierarchy structure?
  • How can Industry 4.0 leaders bring on-board and gain buy-in from different functional heads to champion for transformation initiatives?
  • What are some typical functional priorities and performance metrics in organisations, and how well do Industry 4.0 outcome metrics meet such measures?
  • Roundtable participants are also invited to share practical experiences or examples that can provide useful insights with their peers from different industry sectors

Roundtable #2

Practical Approaches to Right-Pacing & Right Sizing Transformation

Industry 4.0 has a perceived “accessibility” problem and many potential adopters still see it as challenging in terms of cost and ROI, technological or integration complexity, or existing workforce capabilities.  This roundtable will examine how adopters may navigate such challenges in practical ways and from a business perspective

Roundtable proceedings and participant interactions will be facilitated by moderators. Points of discussion may address questions such as:

  • How should businesses pace or size their Industry 4.0 deployment initiatives to ensure the best outcomes and chances of success? What determines the right pace or scale at different stages of deployment, and what factors should be taken into consideration?
  • How should phased approaches be tied to measurable outcomes, and what metrics will be meaningful or worth capturing at each stage?
  • How should employees be transitioned to work with new Industry 4.0 technologies or processes? What are the best ways to communicate the value of such changes?
  • Roundtable participants from different industry sectors will be invited to share experiences and perspectives based on they own deployment experiences
